  1. Since you guys have been talking about Andre Agassi — one of my favorite athletes — I want to go back to something Malcolm Gladwell said on the show: “I’m waiting for the moment when a member of a winning American relay team –swimming or track or any of them — when the first thing out of their mouth when they’re interviewed is ‘Let’s be clear on the fact that [our having] 312 million more people than Jamaica is the reason that we beat Jamaica'”

In the early 2000’s Agassi was asked in a post-match interview to account for the success of US professional tennis players, and he said, “Because we are a country of 320 million people”. I was impressed, and Gladwell would be happy. (Of course, a different explanation is required for the relatively poor performance of US male tennis players in the years following his comment.) Nonetheless, I always appreciated Agassi’s honesty and intelligence.

Keep up the great work, guys!
